Dr. Owais Khawaja joins the team as FCCI’s sixth endovascular fellow.
Dr. Khawaja completed medical school at Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Providence Hospital in Michigan. His interest for cardiology than lead to preventive cardiology (post doc fellowship) at VA Boston/Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA. He also earned an MPH in clinical effectiveness from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA at the same time. This was followed by completion of Critical Care fellowship from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He completed his general cardiology fellowship at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio where he was the chief fellow in his final year. Dr. Khawaja then pursued his passion for interventional cardiology at St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI. He is also well published in peer reviewed journals.
He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). In addition, he is also certified in Adult Echocardiography by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and Nuclear Cardiology by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC).
His dedication and interest in advancing his vascular skills pushed him to pursue FCCI’s vascular fellowship.
