NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant with a special interest in cardiology, cardiovascular physiology and collaborative patient care.
Marika Witkus is a NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant and recent graduate of the University of Florida’s Physician Assistant Studies program. Originally from Massachusetts, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Smith College.
Before pursuing a career in medicine, Marika worked as a middle school science teacher, where she developed a passion for education and helping others. She later gained clinical experience as a medical assistant and scribe in vascular surgery, where she discovered how much she valued caring for patients and collaborating closely with physicians.
During PA school, Marika developed a particular interest in cardiology, drawn to the field’s complex and evolving nature as well as her interest in cardiovascular physiology. After moving to Jacksonville for her clinical rotations, she quickly fell in love with the city and its community and knew she wanted to build her career in Northeast Florida.
Marika is excited to call Northeast Florida home and begin her career with First Coast Cardiovascular Institute. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her two golden retrievers and exploring the area’s beaches.
