Introducing “What We Do” Wednesdays on the Heart Blog! At First Coast Cardiovascular Institute, our patients are family. That’s why we want you to get to know the team caring for you. Every Wednesday, we’ll spotlight a different provider, service or initiative to share with you. This week, meet Betsy, one of our Office Managers at our Arlington office.
Betsy is one of the dedicated Office Manager at our Arlington office. She manages the office for Primary Care Physicians, Drs. Caraballo & Ortiz-Roldan. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Puerto Rico when she was 12. There, she learned to speak Spanish fluently and graduated from nursing school. Betsy moved to Jacksonville in 1983 with her husband, Jamie and her two daughters, Gwendolyn and Bethliza. Betsy has been an Office Manager for Dr. Caraballo for the past seven years.
Q & A with Betsy!
Q: What is your role as an Office Manager?
A: “What do you not do as an office manager? I’m here for everybody,” says Betsy. Managing a doctor’s office is hard work. She works closely with patients, staff, and doctors. She loves being able to give hope to people on a daily basis and believes in treating every patient like family.
Q: What is it like working so closely with the doctors?
A: As an office manager, communication is key. She believes making sure the doctors and her team are on the same page improves patient care.
Q: What do you like to do during your free time?
A: She loves to spend time with her family and cook anything that satisfies their taste buds. She also likes to sing and says music definitely runs in the family. Her love for young people led her to becoming a Youth Pastor. She has been serving the Jacksonville Hispanic Church of God as a Youth Pastor for eight years.
