The symptoms of heatstroke are:
-High body temperature– if your temperature is 104 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, this is a leading sign for heatstroke.
-Change in mental state or behavior-slurred speech, confusion, seizures, and coma can occur due to a heat stroke.
-Change in sweat– your sweat will feel hot and dry to the touch.
-Flushed skin– as your body heat increases, your skin will turn red.
-Increased heart rate– as your body heat increases, there will be added pressure on your heart to cool off your body.
If you or a loved one is experiencing a heat stroke, seek immediate medical attention. Mayo Clinic states that untreated heatstroke can damage your heart, brain, kidneys, and muscles.
Heatstroke can be preventable if the correct precautions are taken. Mayo Clinic suggests wearing loose-fitting clothes, re-applying sunscreen every 2 hours, and drinking plenty of fluids, like water and juice.
