Teachers at River City Science Academy (RCSA), a local public charter school, were given the opportunity to receive a free flu shot while at school. First Coast Cardiovascular Institute partnered with the charter school to provide the shot for free to their teachers this year.
This school year for teachers has presented tremendous challenges. Between adapting to virtual learning, social distancing their students, and providing a sanitary environment, providing a free flu shot is just one way to protect teachers while they are serving our community.
Many teachers expressed interest in receiving their flu shot this year, but busy schedules made it difficult to find the time to get their vaccination. FCCI provided a solution to this issue, having our staff members go out to each of the school’s four locations to provide flu shots on site. Dr. Khatib, president of FCCI, said, “We want to do anything we can to help the teachers in our community. This year is especially difficult for many, and we are glad to be able to support them.”
At FCCI, we are happy to support our local community and school during these tough times. Protect yourself this flu season.
