2014 was full of big milestones at First Coast Cardiovascular Institute. We continued to develop groundbreaking specialties, grow our team, and serve thousands of patients in Northeast Florida. Read about our biggest accomplishments below.
The first Chief Medical Officer outside of the hospital setting:
Issam Moussa, MD joined the team as FCCI’s first Chief Medical Officer. While the majority of Dr. Moussa’s time is spent seeing patients, he is also instrumental in developing educational programs for both physicians and patients. He will be working closely with the staff at FCCI on quality initiatives and improving the patient experience.
A growing team:
We introduced a handful of new providers, allowing us to serve more of the community efficiently.
Plans to introduce a new office location in Middleburg in 2015:
For patient convenience, FCCI is adding its 13th location and the 2nd location in Clay county. Our office will be opening in January 2015 at 3364 County Rd. 220, Middleburg, FL 32068. Marcus Cox, MD, FAAC, coming from South Carolina, will be spearheading our Middleburg office.
Reaccreditation for our state-of-the-art outpatient Catheterization Laboratory:
The accreditation for FCCI’s outpatient cath lab was renewed by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. FCCI was the first to open an outpatient cath lab in Jacksonville, FL. The cath lab is designed to offer lower out-of-pocket cost to patients and a convenient place of service, compared to a traditional hospital setting.
Physicians specializing in Limb Salvage and Wound Care:
Desmond Bell, DPM, CWS and David Swain, DPM, CWSP have dedicated their careers to decreasing the chances of foot and leg amputation for patients This year, they brought their services to FCCI. They specialize in treating diabetic foot ulcers, arterial ulcers, venous ulcers, traumatic wounds, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, and other non-healing wounds of the feet and legs.
Thank you to our team and all our patients for helping to make 2014 a great year! We wish you health and success in 2015!
